Singapore is located at South East Asia with a land size of about 710 square Kilometres. It is also called flower city with the fact that you can see greens everywhere you go. For a small country, we have an overwhelming variety of food to eat. People coming from all over the world set up restaurants or small hawker stalls to sell food from their own countries. You can easily find cuisine from your own country just walking around the corner.
Singapore may be famous for the Marina Bay Sands, the top class hotel, or Universal Studios Singapore or the Night Safari, its essence also lies in the tiny hawker centers that lies within the residential district of Singapore.
Some of the places where Singaporeans such as myself like to go would be the Jurong bird park, Garden by the Bay, Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari. If I were to rank the places I would go for …
First up would be the Night safari. Being the first Zoo opened for the night, it is definitely one of the more unique zoos around the world. Aside from going to nightclubs or bars at night, this is a good choice as well to spend the night. It is a totally different experience from going to a normal day zoo apart from the difficulty in spotting the animals. At the start, I started off on the tram and as it went round the park, they had explanations on each and every animal. I felt that it was not that good as they did not stop when something interesting happened. However I went with my Grandma, so the ride was beneficial to her as she could not walk for long. Also, the tram ride gave us an overview of the entire place so we knew where we wanted to go afterwards. After the tram ride we went to eat in the food court and took another walk around going to see the animals we wanted to look at specifically. There were also performers for example fire eaters, it was a really good.
Second would be the Jurong Bird Park. It is basically a zoo specifically for birds. It costs only about $ 20 for an adult admission and you can spend about half a day to a day inside. There are about 4600 birds there of about 380 different species. The place was quite big, clean and full of trees and flowers. When you walk in, you would feel like you were in a rainforest with thousands of birds. This place allowed me to experience nature without the dangerous wild animals. The difference between Jurong Bird Park and any other Zoo would be that there are no cages. The birds are free to fly in and out of the park whenever they please. Showing the birds as naturally as they would be in the wild.
Thirdly would be the Garden by the bay. This is a place where nature lovers would definitely want to go. The whole place if filled with plants of over 200 species. The outer areas are totally free and they have been sectioned into different types of plants. I have been there before once when it had just opened. My first impression of the outside area was that the plants were recently planted so it was not as nice as I expected it to be. Also, I did not go into the observatories that time so my experience was not really good. However on my second visit, I went at night and everything was a lot better than before. I would really suggest going at night! This is because it is the best time when all the lights are up and the entire place is lit up by the colorful lights. The observatories are really worth the money as the stuff you can see there are really beautiful and it can not be seen at other places. It is also a nice place to hide from the hot sun as it is fully air-conditioned.
Next up would be the Singapore Flyer! It is the largest observation deck in the world! At the top of the wheel, you will be able to see places such as the Marina Bay Sands, Esplanade, the floating platform and also Garden by the Bay. On days of good weather, we might even be able to see Malaysia or Indonesia. The view from above is breath taking and an entourage round is about 30 minutes. There is plenty of time looking in all directions and taking loads of pictures of the beautiful scenery on a good day. There are quite a number of people who actually got married on the flyer itself. That would certainly be it a very unique and special day for the couple. With a handsome groom, beautiful bride and the panoramic view from above, it certainly would be a memorial day. Other than going up for the views and some people getting married, there are also meals being served in the capsule. It boggles my mind on how the food stays hot on its way up. It's not really cheap though and could cost up to a few hundred just for a meal. There are also shops located at the bottom of the Ferris wheel. People could get a fish spa, flight simulator and also eat some of the local food in the hawker center.
There are other exciting places to go such as the USS and the MBS however I would leave if for you to experience by yourself.
